Autocross & Drag Racing – Thursday, 7/16
Autocross is a motorsport type that emphasizes safe competition, active participation and the ability to complete in just about any-wheeled car. The event itself is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at time, or solo through a course typically defined by rubber orange traffic cones. The fastest car and driver through the course, without incurring any penalties is the winner. Autocross differs from road racing or oval racing in that generally there is only one car on the track racing against the clock rather than other cars. An entry level motorsport, autocross is very affordable because the driver and car can compete – and win – in a completely stock vehicle. There will be classes for stock and modified vehicles and awards for fastest times in each class.
Drag Racing – the front straight at MIR doubles as a drag-racing strip. If you’re interested in straight-line racing, we’ll be offering both drag-racing and the autocross event on this second “day at the track” during ZCON week.
Test N Tune Thursdays, Hosted by MIR
– Thursday Evening, 7/16
Test N Tune is a weekly event held by Memphis International Raceway, giving drivers the opportunity to run their cars on the drag strip. Although this is not a ZCON hosted event, attendees are welcome to participate at Test N Tune Thursdays.
Test N Tune sessions are open to all makes and models. Bring your favorite car or bike to MIR and see what it can run in the quarter-mile. (Vehicles must pass a tech inspection and racers must have a valid driver’s license.)
